The summer season of 2009 was a successful one for the Barracudas. Our team really came together under the leadership of our great coaches. We were lucky to have Carlos, Kaitlyn, John, and Laura coaching and inspiring our children this year. Our swimmers dropped time, improved their strokes, and had fun. There isn't much more we could ask for, except for winning a meet. We came close but maybe next year. We have lots of young swimmers that we hope will continue to swim, have fun and also grow into a competetive team in the future. Our roster this year was close to 140 swimmers. Of those 140, about 130 participated in the meets. Many swimmers qualified for pre-lims, twenty five moved on to Northerns, and nine swim at the All City meet. Over time we really hope these numbers grow.
The highlights of the summer - swim team buddies, three home meets became four, friends, meets, candy, 8 and under dives, the new timing system, volunteers, pancake breakfast, lots of sun, Dante dogs, and many more things - too many to list. We thank all of you in the community for your support and understanding during our home meets and swim practice times. Another round of thanks to all the parents and grand parents that continue to support our swim program with their time and money. We couldn't run this program without all of you! The swim team coordinators for 2010 will be Anna Brunette, Sharon Fowler, and Molly Thole. Margaret and I will be moving on knowing that the team will be in excellent hands next year.
Go Barracudas!
